Greer Commission of Public Works
In 1957, Greer CPW signed a contract with Patterson-Ford
Construction Company to build a natural gas transmission line and distribution
system. Gas distribution began shortly thereafter with seven district
regulator stations and a city gate station. The present gas distribution system has grown to three main gate stations, approximately 139 distribution stations, and approximately 712 miles of gas pipeline. Greer CPW manages approximately 20,000 gas meters in its service area
The City of Greer, with northern boundaries extending to the City of Landrum near the North Carolina border and current service extending north on Highway 290 to Tygerville Road and along Highway 14 North to Highway 11 in the Gowensville community; southern boundaries extending to the area known as Crescent near the town of Woodruff; eastern boundaries extending to Wellford and western boundaries to the Enoree River, including the Taylors area.
