Work Force Investment Boards One-Stop Systems
The facility and staff of the One-Stop Centers provide numerous resources for job seekers and employers. Individuals seeking a new job or interested in advancing their career may access a wide array of information on training programs, education and employment services.

Employers may post job openings, locate qualified job applicants and receive outplacement and recruitment assistance. To enhance productivity throughout the employment process, the One-Stop Centers are equipped with the latest technology from computers to Internet access and video-conferencing, Services are federally funded through the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) and free of cost to the public. Services to employers in the Greenville County area include:

South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW)
The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce is responsible for paying unemployment insurance benefits, collecting unemployment taxes, finding jobs for people, finding employees for companies, and collecting and disseminating state/federal employment statistics. While these functions have not changed significantly over the past decade, customer needs and service delivery methods have. As the leading workforce development and labor exchange agency in the State, DEW continually adapts to the demands of new technology and the global economy. Our main goal is to match job seekers with employers quickly, efficiently, and effectively, and we offer a variety of services to assist both groups.

Employers may list job openings online and search electronic resumes through SC Works.  Employers can register by going to http://www.scworks.org/.  Employers may also list job openings with any DEW office in South Carolina.  Local office staff will recruit and screen referrals for employers using their services.  These job orders can also be posted on the internet and the DEW office will screen electronic applications.

Formerly known as, The Center for Technology Training Accelerated Technology Training (CATT) is one of the most comprehensive and successful programs in the US. Its structure and content serves as a model for other state programs throughout the country. The Center's new moniker — readySC™ — sums up perfectly our message to companies that are considering a relocation or expansion in South Carolina.

Continuing Education Training
While readySC provides quick, short term workforce training to South Carolina industries in order to get them established, the Continuing Education Program at Greenville Technical College and Spartanburg Technical College provides the necessary on-going workforce training that is crucial to the long-term success of a business or industry. Continuing education courses are wide ranging, covering everything from upgrading professional skills and supervisory development training to training designed to meet the specific needs involved in the manufacturing process.

Business and Industry Services was developed to facilitate the training needs for business and industry. The department serves as the liaison to the business community to build long-term relationships in order to identify organizational development and training needs, and to facilitate solutions. Training Services managers coordinate internal resources to provide programs that will enhance the image and growth of their clients and the colleges.

Industrial/Manufacturing training offers a wide variety of courses designed to meet the specific needs involved in the manufacturing process. Courses range from basic operator training to the latest in quality and lean manufacturing techniques. Courses can be taken individually or as a series and are offered both on campus and in-plant. For in-plant training, all courses are designed to meet the specific needs of the client.

Both schools have state-of-the-art PLC lab and Machine Tool department that offer a number of short training courses with both day and evening classes available. Other programs and services offered include but are not limited to in-depth analysis, assessment plans, training needs analysis and job specific pre-employment classes. Employers pay for the analyses, training development and cost of applicant testing and then hire graduates of these programs on an as-needed basis.

The Enterprise Zone / Rural Development Act (E-Zone) Training
The Continuing Education Division of Greenville Tech and Spartanburg Tech administer the Enterprise Zone Program tax incentive training program for Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. E-Zone enables companies engaged in manufacturing, processing, warehousing or distribution to claim up to a 50% tax rebate for job-related training coordinated by the Technical College. Any job-related training that improves skill level and helps companies remain competitive is covered under E-Zone. Training must be for full-time production workers through first-line supervisors and their support people. Qualified companies can receive reimbursements for their in-house company training, training provided by the Technical colleges or third party training approved by the colleges. SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department Training
Employers looking for well-prepared, motivated workers and businesses seeking a resource for first-quality out source work need look no further than the S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Department.

SCVRD trains people with disabilities to maximize their abilities, take advantage of their talents and put their potential to work. Employers who hire our clients are delighted by their skills, drive, loyalty and dependability. They also earn tax credits for hiring people with disabilities.

The department has work training centers in Greenville, Spartanburg, Gaffney and elsewhere around the state. Clients at the centers work on outsource contracts for more than 400 South Carolina businesses and industries. They learn work skills and behaviors while the contractors receive high-quality, low-cost results.

SCVRD’s Business Partnership Network is available to assist businesses interested in hiring people with disabilities learn about best employment practices. The department also offers services to help employees whose jobs are jeopardized by disabling conditions.
